A transfer

Lately, we shifted to a place outside city from our hometown due to a transfer at work. We were worried thinking about the lack of arrangements and facilities that would be available at that remote place. The schools and hospitals were little disappointing. They were also far from our residential place. As a homemaker and mother, I was not to happy about shifting from a city to a place far from city. There were no malls nearby, no cine complexes and was not quite a happening place. My children were also not too happy.

I was more dreaded thinking about the non connectivity of internet. Internet was like my third hand. I do almost everything online. I do all banking transaction, pay all my utility bills, book tickets for travel, and a lot more things online. I even help my children with their children’s project work by using internet. But here my fear was in vain. I got internet connection in a very short notice. There are satellite internet service providers. Since cable infrastructures were not required, getting connectivity was much easier. I was delighted to get my world back again. I did not whine on my other inconveniences. Thought of the calm and serene life and relaxed..

Intel might be wrong in buying McAfee

Intel is spending a huge 7.7 billion dollars in cash to buyout the software anti-virus major, McAfee. The takeover is expected to help Intel, as per the company, to ensure a better product offering in mobile chips. Intel sees a huge potential for chips in the mobile sector, so it wants to take all precautions to ensure aggressive and trouble free chips sales in the mobile sector. For that it feels that buying out McAfee is a good option.
But the overall outlook for the technology and chips sector as a whole is looking bleak and there could be a sharp decline in the sales in the coming quarters. And that could be the right time to buy McAfee when the price could be over 30% to 50% lower than what it is paying now. So Intel may be wrong in buying McAfee at this point of time.

Federal Communication Commission plan to bring high speed internet to homes

In a move to bring high speed internet connectivity to all households in US and to encourage people to do most of their transactions online, the Federal Communication Commission had planned to bring in a $20 billion worth 10 year plan to give internet connectivity to all. Also, it has proposed to increase the internet speed of already connected homes to ten times faster than what is available now. They have also proposed to bring low cost internet connectivity.

But, the agency is facing stiff resistance from the broadband industry group and lawmakers. They have questioned on the possibility of such proposal and about the feasibility of bringing in low cost internet connectivity.

The telecom industry have questioned FCC on how they could bring such regulatory measures so soon that would generate more competition for existing networks run by big companies.

We are all used to the moon near the earth that it sounds unnatural to even think of the Martian moon. But that is exactly what has been explored right now. The European Mars Express (Mex) probe has made its closest flyby of the Martian moon Phobos, passing just 67km (42 miles) from its surface.

No manmade object has ever been so near to the natural satellite. The approach is one of a series being made by Mex as it seeks to understand the origin of the moon. Previous flybys have indicated that Phobos has an extremely low density, suggesting that its surface probably hides many large interior voids.

Scientists suspect the moon is simply a collection of planetary rubble that coalesced around the Red Planet sometime after its formation.
